Our newest production, El Corrido de Vicente Silva, continues that tradition by revisiting the story of one of the most infamous figures associated with nineteenth-century Las Vegas, New Mexico.
According to historical accounts, Vicente Silva operated a saloon in the town plaza while allegedly leading a criminal organization responsible for robbery, violence, and murder. Although he presented himself as a respectable businessman, stories surrounding his activities spread throughout the New Mexico Territory and became part of regional history.
This original corrido transforms those historical accounts into music, following Silva’s rise, the fear attributed to his organization, and the dramatic events that ultimately ended his life.
The accompanying cinematic visuals recreate the atmosphere of the Old West using imagery inspired by historic New Mexico landscapes, adobe architecture, frontier saloons, and mountain scenery.
