But instead of settling among the people, he chose a different path.
He climbed Cerro Tecolote and found shelter in a cave.
The Lantern in the Mountain
The corrido describes the Hermit’s nights, accompanied by a lantern that seemed never to go out.
His life was simple and secluded. However, the mountain did not mean complete isolation.
According to the song, humble people came to him seeking help.
Herbs and Faith
The Hermit used mountain herbs and his faith in an attempt to heal those who came to his refuge.
